Bees

In the garden, today.

Ooh, I love that papillon lavender - it’s so pretty. And the bees are super, too! We have a lot of those crazy Carpenter bees at the moment - the ones with no regard for one’s personal space (very French). They are eating away at our rotten pear tree, it is beginning to look like a piece of comedy cheese. Ho hum. I’m waiting for my Oriental Poppies to flower - but our weather has been rubbish, no sun and too much rain. But I’m not moaning - it’s better than London.

Great pics Susie. I’m loving all the wildlife that is springing out around us at the moment.

BTW, i didn’t kill the snake - he was sadly demised when I found him…

Hi Richard

I did not think it was you who killed the snake. I don’t think English people are generally so phobic about the poor creatures as our French friends. Any snake foolish enough to be seen round here is a signal to rush for a weapon and kill it. A beautiful couple of whipsnakes who were mating were sent into oblivion with a shotgun a couple of years ago. :-( I don’t understand it.

The bees would photograph much better if they’d only keep still for a moment. :-)

Mya

I think we have relatives of your carpenter bees here, but they are working on a beam just above the bed, leaving holes big enough to stick a pencil in.

Hope your weather picks up, and let’s have some photos of your orientals when they open, please?
